// 25 December 2023 20:55:29 UTC // https://www.reddit.com/r/CalamityMod/comments/18qknbj/comment/kewkcgs/ Having evolved this conworld for around three years, it has detached itself quite a lot from main Calamity lore: During the fifth millenium BC, a kind of "magical" cosmic ray hit Earth, infusing a part of central-eastern North America with magic by primordial gods (not Calamity primordial gods, something else entirely), making them substantially stronger, more durable, more intelligent, and more apt to magic, as well as evolving a perpertual motion source, drastically reducing their need to eat. During the second millenium BC, two major powers had evolved in eastern North America: the Beyedagians, bordering the south-western Great Lakes, and the Yharkhians, in the east coast. In the 17rd century BC, Beyedag initiated a war with the Yharkhians. The Yharkhians were losing rapidly, so they retreated into the ocean, making Beyedag think they would die as they didn't believe there was anything beyong the waters. The Yharkhians started sailing south-east into the Caribbean, find the island of Etheria, which would be around 300 kilometers north of the coast of Hispaniola. Due to their defeat, they started researching ways to get revenge on Beyedag. They eventually found several solutions: * thaumaturgy (aka magic) which the Beyedagians didn't develop * eugenetics to develop stronger and more durable soldiers * stronger materials, finding a metal called Zetanium infused into the mountains. This metal, when treated properly, could have properties similar to tungsten (high melting point, high density, no rusting). The downside is that Zetanium is REALLY hard to mold. After living six centuries on that island, that close to Beyedag, some started doubting that living that close to North America is good for their continued existence. This rebel group even managed to convince their leader (called the Yharim) to move to a new island. They managed to find Yharaws Island, an island to the east of real Guadeloupe, and Guadlupo (real Guadeloupe), both having mountains with Zetanium. By the eighth century AD, the Yharkhians feld prepared to demolish Beyedag, which had a much lowered guard as they thought they were the only remaining civilization. Despite all olds, the Yharkhians ended up winning the war, killing most of the populace. The ones that were left behind were inserted into Yharkhian civilization. To house most of these immigrants, the Dungeon was constructed. Unfortunetely, it was cursed a few centuries later, killing tens of thousands of people. In the 17th century, the British Empire took notice of the Yharkhian civilization. They didn't invade it outright (they knew their entire exploration team would be killed), and instead initiated peaceful trade and exploration, constructing the city of Saint Philip in the east coast of the island. And finally, in 2005, the "Player", named Qwynyob, is born, being the second generation of a colony of an extrauniversal supercivilization. Unlike in Terraria where enemies and gods are used as stepping stones, this world has no weak terrestrial gods. Instead, Qwynyob starts discovering his extremely powerful superpowers bit by bit. He eventually succumbs to capitalism in 2017, when he starts a program to stop all murders in all countries by paying him a percentage of the annusal GDP production. He also does the same thing in 2023, creating an alternate dimension with a slighly larger Earth to solve food and home crises. In the next thousands and millions of years, he would help humanity develop interplanetary and interstellar travel, creating portals to other star systems. He's also kind of a self-insert. And these are only the major details...
